Hazardous geological processes
SE Zahidukrgeologiya has been completing government contracts for monitoring, registering the propagation and activation of exogenous geological processes (EGPs) within the territory of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions.
Annual surveys covering the EGM evolution and collection of data for geological support of landslide protection measures are carried out to inform local governments and territorial bodies of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine regarding the likelihood of EGM-related emergencies and prompt response to their advancement. .jpg)
Based on the long-term monitoring findings on EGM propagation at the regional, local and site-wise levels falling within its area of responsibility, the Company mapped and entered into the registers of the State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine the following:
- 285,875 landslides totalling 1759.85 km2;
- 15,218 karst sinkholes covering 5,951.7 km2 of surface karst manifestations;
- 1,295 gully erosion sites;
- 765 lateral erosion sites 231 km long;
- 669 mudflows measuring 2,996 km2.
The Company provides expert opinions on engineering and geological
surveys conducted to determine the areas, conditions and quantity of landslide, karst, mudflow and other dangerous exogenous processes as part of the development of master plans for ATC settlements and the construction of individual sites at the pre-design stage.
