Specialists of the Subsidiary of PrJSC “NAC “Nadra Ukrainy” “Zahidukrgeologiya” took an active part in the international online seminar “Land Monitoring through Earth Observation”, held within the framework of the EU4Green Recovery East program with the participation of experts from the Environment Agency Austria.
The event was held on February 25–26, 2026 in an online format and brought together representatives of state bodies, scientific institutions and specialized experts from the Eastern Partnership countries. The seminar program was dedicated to modern Earth Observation capabilities and Copernicus Programme services, in particular their application for:
• drought monitoring;
• forest condition assessment;
• geospatial data analysis in accordance with the requirements of the INSPIRE Directive;
• implementation of remote sensing tools in the practice of public administration.
During the seminar, the participants considered practical cases of using satellite data to assess natural risks, discussed the national needs of Ukraine and identified further steps to integrate geoinformation services into the system of environmental and natural resource monitoring.
For our company, participation in the event is of practical importance. The obtained tools and approaches can be directly used for:
• monitoring of dangerous exogenous geological processes (landslides, karst, flooding, slope degradation);
• monitoring the state of watersheds and groundwater;
• operational assessment of land use changes;
• preparation of analytical materials for authorities and territorial communities.
Such international initiatives contribute to strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian geological institutions with European partners and the implementation of modern standards for working with geodata. SE "Zakhidukrgeologiya" will continue to actively participate in such programs, expanding the capabilities of modern monitoring of subsoil and the environment in the interests of the state and regions.
