On December 3, 2025, a coordination meeting was held in the city of Berehove on the initiative to implement a geothermal heat supply system. Representatives of Zakhidukrheologiya, local governments, international partners and specialized organizations took part in the event, joining forces to develop modern energy-efficient solutions in the region.
The participants included:
* Advisor to the Director of the State Enterprise "Zakhidukrheologiya" Serhiy Galchynskyi
* Head of the Geology Department of the State Enterprise "Zakhidukrheologiya" Dmytro Panov
* First Deputy Mayor of Berehove Pyyter Husar
* Director of LLC "Vodokanal Karpatviz" Andriy Kulakov
* Deputy Director of LLC "Vodokanal Karpatviz" Volodymyr Gulyanych
* Hydrogeologist Ivan Sashchenko
* Executive Director of NGO "Geothermal Ukraine" Taras Popadynets
* Member of the Board of NGO "Geothermal Ukraine" Yulia Demchuk
* Business Development Manager of the Icelandic company Verkís Volodymyr Pryvizhentsev.
During the meeting, the possibilities of using the existing geothermal potential of the territorial community, potential areas of inter-sectoral cooperation and technical aspects of implementing the relevant project were discussed.
According to the director of the State Enterprise "Zakhidukrheologiya" Mykhailo Lyshak, the city of Berehove has all the prerequisites to become an example of the effective use of geothermal resources. "Together with partners, we are moving towards the practical implementation of this ambitious project. We see the significant potential of geothermal resources in Transcarpathia and are ready to support communities in the transition to sustainable solutions," he noted.
The project aims to increase energy efficiency, reduce dependence on traditional heat sources, as well as enhance environmental safety and compliance with sustainable development goals.
NJSC "Nadra Ukrainy" together with its subsidiary "Zakhidukrheologiya" and international partners, including Baker Hughes, is actively working on the development of the geothermal direction in Ukraine. The implementation of this pilot project in Beregov will be an important milestone in the introduction of "green" energy in the regions and an example of how innovative approaches can benefit communities, ensuring their energy independence and sustainability.
