Participation of the SE "Zahidukrgeologia" in the discussion of the Vistula River Basin Management Plan project
On 29 February 2024, a public discussion of the draft Vistula River Basin Management Plan was held in Lviv. In Ukraine, the basin includes river sub-basins of the Western Buh and the San. The event was attended by the representatives of government authorities, water management organisations, members of the Basin Council, territorial communities, major water users of the basin (water services companies), scientists, NGOs and stakeholders. Zahidukrgeologiya was represented by Natalia Pavliuk, Head of the Integrated Hydrogeological Party of the Lviv Geological Survey.
At the meeting several presentations were made on the Vistula Basin Management Plan and draft measures to improve the in-basin environment.
Natalia Pavliuk took part in the discussion, in particular, she outlined the importance of groundwater, the need for quantitative and qualitative groundwater monitoring, the lack of state funding, and the priority of diagnostic groundwater monitoring.
